William Collentro To Address ULTRAPURE WATER Pharma Conference

PHILADELPHIA—William V. Collentro, a visiting assistant professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), will present two technical papers at ULTRAPURE WATER Pharma 2011, as well as assist with moderating the sessions.  Registration is open for the conference that is slated for April 12-13 at the DoubleTree Hotel in center city Philadelphia.

Mr. Collentro’s April 12 presentation, entitled “Monochloramine Removal-Design, Operating, and Maintenance Issues”, will focus on the use of monochloramines for secondary disinfection of EPA-quality drinking water, and the techniques used to remove it.  His April 13 presentation, “Membrane Processes for Meeting U.S. EPA Long-Term 2 SWTR”, will examine EPA regulations on the reduction of microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium.  Both presentations will relate their content to pertinent issues in pharmaceutical water treatment.  Mr. Collentro is a well-respected pharmaceutical water expert who also acts as a subject matter expert to Water Consulting Specialists, which he founded 1993.

The meeting will begin April 12 with a keynote address by Mr. Mark Hassenplug of Ernst & Young, who will report on business aspects of the pharmaceutical industry.  Ms. Anita Michael of the FDA will report on the agency’s view and approach to validation.  On both days the conference will also include technical presentations on important topics related to pharmaceutical water.  Examples will include monochloramine removal, UV treatment, ozone sanitation, on-line water testing, a novel ion-exchange process, and an enduser case report.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to network with others active in the pharmaceutical water field.  Other benefits from attending the conference will be the opportunity to learn from experts with direct experience with the USP and FDA, as well as from technical experts actively involved with technologies used to treat pharmaceutical-grade water.  Tabletops will feature exhibits by leading water equipment companies.
